As you can see the total precipitation occurred for last year was 1049 mm. It is 171 mm below the average. This has been the second consecutive year that our region is running into deficit. Another sad thing was the bias shown by the rain gods, when the highly anticipated low pressure (Dec 18-25) contributed only 99 mm to Auroville, while pouring 250mm to the north in Chennai and 280mm to the south in Nagapattinam, both on the coast and within 160 km of Auroville.
There hasn't been any big change in the number of rainy days (please, refer to the table below).
