John Mandeen, American

Although John has never actually joined Auroville, he is very much at home here as a long-time friend and trusted photographer, and thus merits a page on our site.

John, who has been living in Pondicherry since 1968, is a self-taught photographer. He started taking pictures for Auroville in the early '80s. Connected with Aurelec, he helped do their brochures, taught photography in Last School for nine years, helped set up the Matrimandir photo archives, took the photos for two successive Auroville information exhibitions in the Visitors Centre, as well as for the ’98 and '99 Auroville calendars, has contributed his photos to Auroville Today for many years and to practically all publications in Auroville since 1987. 

John also provided many photos for the Auroville 2001 Master Plan presentation, as well as for this website..
