AVI Germany meeting digs in..!

Aurovilian Tine reports from the AVI Deutschland meeting in May 2003:

A lot of beautiful things are happening for Auroville at the Auroville celebration in Germany right now. I say 'celebration' because it feels to me that Auroville is celebrated here -- in a happy, joyful mood, and with dedication and deep interest. We are meeting with old and new friends in the countryside high up in the North of Germany, near Cuxhaven, where yellow rape fields blend in with Holsteiner black and white happy cows chewing the eternally green pastures. The celebration is in full swing since Thursday 22nd of May. About 70-80 people are present and tomorrow, Sunday, is the last day.

Although the rain gods seemed to have had a specially wet encounter the last few days over here, the atmosphere in our rural seminar center is not at all dampened by the amount of water falling from the sky. Good meetings, time for talks, work shops, new Auroville videos, the International Zone, information and presentations of current issues in Auroville, an Indian story told by an Aurovilian, a sound-workshop and concert, presentation on the spiritual importance of the UN, a 'money game', many interesting discussions etc etc.

2000 dollars for The Land

Probably the best news is in regard to the one-million dollar campaign which Paul and other young Aurovilians started off for securing the Auroville land. You must have heard about this creative campaign. During our meeting in Germany, through several spontaneous actions and games, a lot of money came suddenly together without even the intention of raising funds. Especially the young people, among them the young German social servants who plan to come and work in Auroville for one year, were touched by this desperate issue of the land.. They pulled out whatever they could find in the unfathomable depths of their pockets for this inspiring campaign -- and surprisingly more than 300 Euros were suddenly there. And later on, during the 'money game', people spontaneously put money on the table, in a joyful gesture to give and support the land for Auroville.

The result was quite overwhelming: the equivalent of some 2000 dollars were collected for the land. Isn't that really a surprise-gift for Auroville?
