The main purpose of the regularly occurring
'Land for Auroville' flea markets is to focus the attention
of community members, visitors and friends of Auroville during
the busy months of January and February on the critical land
situation and on the urgency to secure the land for Auroville.
Thanks to the participation and generosity of Auroville's
commercial units and residents, the January '02 flea market
was a wonderful event for all.
Organiser Mala gives her personal impression:
Spirit of giving and receiving
In a meditation during the time of preparing the flea market
I asked for guidance on how to handle the issue of money exchange
on the flea market as Mother foresaw an Auroville economy
without internal exchange of money. I wanted to use this event,
as all other occurrences in Auroville, to raise our consciousness,
and received something as "for my children it should be free"
and "there could be free and joyful donations from the heart".
And of course, the spirit of giving and receiving with joy
was fully present on that lovely Sunday, January 13th. Aurovilians
came and would say "I want to donate Rs. 100 or Rs. 200 (or
more) for the land", and would then look around to see if
there was something of their liking. And the people at the
booths, both Aurovilians and guests, were just wonderful.
It was a flow from both sites, giving rise to a big 'thank
you' to all.

A happy occasion
I was the last person in the Eucalyptus Grove at the side
of the road between Certitude and Solar Kitchen to see to
it that what was left got transported home. The moment was
so strong. When I was standing there in the evening sun, I
inwardly sensed what a happy occasion it had been, how wonderful
that we could share items from Auroville in this way with the
people from the village, and how fortunate we are to participate
in this adventure..
It happened to be the very same day that people from all over
the world concentrated to give love, light and a special support
to our Planet Earth and the whole creation.
With love,
Mala
