Agricultural experiments in Auroville are a synthesis of many different methods, such as Biodynamics, Permaculture, Earth Bodies, Effective MicroOrganisms, Vermiculture, etc, and of progressive technologies for more conscientious water and energy use in irrigation, involving windmills, solar panels, rainwater harvesting, drip and sprinkler systems. There are various research & training facilities for students in sustainable agriculture and agro-ecology, and for visitors who want to learn while doing farm work in Auroville. Applicants should plan to stay a minimum of one month, and make reservations in advance, particularly between the busy months of December - March (note: April-June is the hottest time, while September-December can be very wet).
