Network of women's groups

At present, AVAG works with a network of women's groups in about 45 villages in the bioregion. We have over a 1000 women in our network who participate in our awareness-building training programs and our activities. This year, these women's groups have implemented 22 micro-projects for the development of village
infrastructure and petitioned Government offices to avail of 30 more Government services.

• To reduce caste prejudices, AVAG organised 21 exchange programmes where non-Dalit women visited Dalit women, had food with them and discussed common problems.
• Two women's groups comprising 28 women have availed loans facilitated by AVAG, bought cows, are selling the milk to PONLAIT and repaying back the loan in timely installments.
• Over 600 of the women who participate in AVAG Savings & Credit these last three years have mobilised savings and circulated loans of over Rs. 16 lakhs.
• The Women's Day this year was celebrated by these groups in the villages. At the celebration, in some villages, traditional male elders and Panchayat leaders openly praised the positive difference that these women have made in their villages.
