Considering the stipulation by the Mother that day-visitors be allowed to visit the Matrimandir’s Inner Chamber during only one hour per day*, and due to the increasing influx of visitors, we have been obliged to formulate certain guidelines in order to maintain the basic atmosphere and peace in the area.

We therefore ask visitors to respect the following:  

• Before coming to visit Matrimandir, one is advised to first go to the Auroville Visitors Centre to be informed generally about Auroville and the Matrimandir.
  At the same time the Auroville Entry pass can be obtained from the VC's Information Desk.  

• Visitors are allowed to view the Matrimandir structure, from the outside only, every day between 8.30 am and 3 pm, entering via the Matrimandir Information Kiosk gate. 

• Visitors are permitted to see the Inner Chamber every day between 4 pm and 4.45 pm sharp. Passes for this are issued at the Matrimandir Kiosk only, between 3.30 and 4.30 pm sharp.

• People are requested to leave their bags and cameras outside the compound, either in their vehicles or at the Information Kiosk at the entrance of the Matrimandir premises. People under the influence of drugs or alcohol are not allowed to enter the compound.

• When visiting the Inner Chamber between 4.00 pm and 4.45 pm silence must be observed from the time of entering the compound until the time of leaving it, and is to be strictly adhered to while visiting the structure itself.

• Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult, bearing in mind that Matrimandir is a construction site and discipline has to be carefully observed to avoid accidents.

• The Matrimandir will remain closed on rainy days.
